County adds to torture charges

Attempted murder count lodged against woman

- By Mike Goodwin

The woman accused of taking part in the torture of her boyfriend’s estranged wife has been charged with attempted firstdegree murder, State Police said Friday.

The victim allegedly told investigators Nicole Elmore tried to drown her in a motel in Amsterdam as part of six days of torture inflicted on her by Elmore and Justin Wilson.

Elmore, 35, of Gloversville was taken into custody Thursday and charged in Montgomery County after she was released from the jail in Fulton County where she was initially arrested after she and Wilson, 31, were accused of holding his estranged wife captive in a Perth trailer home for nearly a week. The pair are accused of subjecting the 37-year-old woman to days of brutal torture that culminated in cutting off one of her fingers and then using a flame to stop the bleeding, according to court records filed in the State Police investigation.

While much of the abuse was carried out in the Fulton County town, State Police investigators said they determined the torture continued in Montgomery County where Elmore and Wilson abused the woman at the Knights Inn in Amsterdam. The troopers arrested Elmore after consulting with the county’s district attorney.

Elmore’s attorney, Cristopher Savino, could not be reached for immediate comment.

Wilson is expected to face a similar charge in Montgomery County. He remains in custody in the Fulton County jail.

Elmore and Wilson were arraigned Jan. 7 in Perth Town Court and charged with kidnapping, whipping, sodomizing and disfiguring the 37-year-old woman during

an ordeal that began with her abduction on New Year’s Eve.

Wilson’s attorney has declined comment.

Court papers detailing the alleged crimes say that around 8 p.m. on Dec. 31, Wilson forced his estranged wife at gunpoint from a home on West Fulton Street in Gloversville and drove her, facedown in the back seat of an SUV, to Elmore’s trailer on Route 107, where authorities said she was brutalized for six days.

The woman said Wilson made her sleep with a pit bull in a filthy room, used a baseball bat to sodomize her, choked her until she lost consciousness, used a cord to whip her on several occasions, sexually assaulted her, and amputated her right pinky finger before using a flame in a primitive attempt to cauterize the wound.

The victim also recounted more disturbing details to investigators, telling them that Wilson and Elmore at one point took her to a motel in Amsterdam where she said Wilson tried to drown her in a hot tub, whipped her with a charging cable wrapped around a wrench and forced her to put her head in a urine-filled toilet.

Wilson, she said, took a ring from her finger and used it to sexually assault her, she said.
