Washington County crashes result in head injuries
Washington County deputies responded to crashes in Argyle and Fort Ann that resulted in injuries, Sheriff Jeffrey Murphy said Friday.
A car and dump truck collided at County Route 45 and State Route 40 in Argyle Friday morning, resulting in the driver of the Subaru being removed by Argyle firefighters and EMS personnel. The driver, a woman aged 70, of Salem, failed to stop at the stop sign on County Route 45 and pulled into the path of the northbound dump truck, which was hauling a loader along Route 40, the sheriff said.
She was taken to Glens Falls Hospital with a head injury and possible internal injuries, deputies said. She was later cited on a charge of failing to stop for a stop sign. The 71-yearold dump truck driver from Stillwater and his passenger, 61, of Corinth were uninjured.
Late Thursday, a pickup truck and tractor-trailer collided on Route 4 in the town of Fort Ann just north of the village. The driver of the pickup, 37, of Hudson Falls was northbound on Route 4 when he crossed out of his lane and into the path of the southbound tractor-trailer, deputies said.
The tractor-trailer driver, 45, of Rock Island, Ill. told deputies the pickup crossed into his lane causing a collision. He was uninjured. The pickup driver was taken to Glens Falls Hospital with possible serious injuries including a head injury.
Hiker dies in Fort Ann
FORT ANN — State Police said a Peekskill man was found dead at the bottom of a cliff near Shelving Rock Falls in the town of Fort Ann on Thursday afternoon.
Police said they found the body of 55-year-old Timothy J. Gillen at about 5:30 p.m.
Passing hikers observed Gillen at the bottom of the cliff and contacted police. Preliminary investigation determined that Gillen was hiking and died as a result of a fall, troopers said. The case remains under investigation but no signs of foul play were observed, police said.
