BUSINESS ROUNDUP
Here’s some Capital Region businessrelated news in brief:
■ The Department of Environmental Conservation said it issued 42 certificates of completion as part of the state’s Brownfield Cleanup Program during 2021. The agency also accepted 90 new sites into the program. That included the new Hillside Crossing Apartments in Schenectady’s Hamilton Hill neighborhood, transformed from an industrial site to affordable housing thanks in part to the Brownfield Cleanup Program and the state Homes and Community Renewal agency.
■ In response to a dramatic rise in the use of canoes, kayaks and paddleboards on state canals, Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor published the free New York State Canal System Hand-launch Facility Design Guide. It shares best practices for communities, businesses and organizations looking to install or improve hand-launch facilities for paddlers, the agencies said. ■ Beacon-based Hudson River Sloop Clearwater’s board of directors has named David Toman as executive director to carry forward its mission of protecting the river through education, advocacy and celebration. Toman has more than 25 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, most recently as vice president of operations and chief financial officer at the Mohonk Preserve.
■ Greene County Bancorp this week announced that its board of directors approved a quarterly cash dividend of 13 cents per share on the company’s common stock. The dividend reflects an annual cash dividend rate of 52 cents per share, which is the same rate as the dividend declared during the previous quarter. The cash dividend for the quarter ended Dec. 31, 2021, will be paid to shareholders of record as of Feb. 15 and is expected to be paid on Feb. 28.
■ The CAP COM Cares Foundation will offer its infrastructure grant initiative for a second year. The program aims to distribute $100,000 to 10 nonprofit organizations to help them fund infrastructure projects traditionally difficult to finance but vital to helping it serve constituents. The application deadline is Feb. 18. “The Infrastructure Initiative will allow us to support new projects that normally are hard to fund,” Becky Daniels, director of community engagement at CAP COM Federal Credit Union said. “We are looking forward to partnering with new and existing partners on some special upcoming projects.”
