Police accuse guest of firing shotgun into Colonie hotel’s ceiling
COLONIE — Town police said a hotel guest was arrested after firing two rounds from a shotgun into the room’s ceiling Tuesday morning.
The 49-year-old Valatie man discharged a 12-gauge Mossberg in the bathroom at Hotel Trilogy on Wolf Road at about 3:30 a.m., resulting in damage to the ceiling and other fixtures, police said. A second occupant was in the room at the time, but there were no injuries, police said. The shotgun rounds did not penetrate any of the adjacent rooms.
The shotgun’s serial number was defaced and investigators are trying to determine its origin, police said. An order of protection against the suspect prohibited him from having a shotgun.
The man was charged with reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal mischief as well as criminal contempt. He was arraigned and released to the supervision of the Albany County Probation Department. He was then taken to a hospital for evaluation.
