100 YEARS AGO Disguise didn’t work

Edward F. Mcevoy, for whom a statewide search was underway by state and federal officials, and who skipped his $8,000 bail bond on two conspiracy and fraud charges in federal court in Syracuse the previous Thursday, was seen in Schenectad­y by two old neighbors who saw through the disguise he was wearing. The two women claim Mcevoy was dressed as a priest on a Schenectad­ysaratoga train bound for the Spa City, and was within speaking distance of two detectives, a policeman and a traffic cop at times during the trip. Department of Justice agents in Albany said they were on his trail and expected an arrest to be made soon.
