Please Remember Me commemoration
U.S. Army veteran and volunteer with the organization Please Remember Me, Bob Robinson, and other volunteers take part in an event on Monday at Colonie Memorial Town Hall to mark the 10th anniversary of the Please Remember Me project, in Colonie. Beginning this month, workers with National Grid will volunteer to hang American flags on utility poles on a 4-mile stretch of Route 9. The flags, which cost about $3,000, are paid for through donations and support from Trustco Bank. Every flag represents 10 men and women killed in action. Shortly after Labor Day, the flags will be taken down and then on Oct. 10, a Walk of Honor event will be held at The Crossings, where schoolchildren will carry the flags to honor those killed in action.
