Maple Hill gets semifinal victory

Wildcats top Greenville to advance to Patroon championsh­ip contest

Maple Hill rallied for three runs in the fifth to get past visiting Greenville 4-2 on Wednesday in a Patroon Conference playoff semifinal softball clash.

With the teams tied 1-1, Sam Manning keyed the three-run outburst with a clutch triple to give Maple Hill the lead for good. Kate Ackerman tossed seven innings, allowing one earned run while striking out seven to pick up the victory for the Wildcats. Maple Hill will play Chatham on Friday at Ichabod Crane High School in the Patroon championsh­ip game.

Taryn Silk was 1-for-2 with an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored for Greenville.

Baseball: Colonie clinched its first Suburban Council championsh­ip since 2011 with an 18-1 win against visiting Albany. The Garnet Raiders improved to 13-1 in league play and own a tiebreaker over Guilderlan­d, which also sits at 13-1, thanks to a 6-0 win on April 6 that sealed the championsh­ip . ... La Salle outslugged Cohoes 19-15 in a Colonial Council game at Cohoes. Ahead 6-5, the Cadets used a sevenrun outburst in the fourth inning to take control and extend the advantage to 13-5. Eddie Yamin hit two home runs, added a double, drove in six and scored five runs to stuff the stat sheet and lead La Salle. Zak Halloran had a single, home run, three RBIS and scored four runs to lead the Tigers.

Boys’ tennis: Albany Academy kept its perfect record intact with a 6-1 win over Ichabod Crane in a Colonial Council matchup. Will Frasier, Owen O’brien, Nick Demarco and Arjun Nair had singles wins and the pairs of Jonathan Farbman and Charles Brooks along with Lucas Fu and Christian Jarocki won their doubles matches for the Cadets, who improved to 9-0 with the victory. Ean Lantzy had the lone win for the Riders, who dropped to 10-2 with the loss.
