Manslaughter admitted
A 19-year-old Albany man pleaded guilty to firstdegree manslaughter in Albany County Court Wednesday after being indicted for shooting a 36-year-old man to death in November, the Albany County district attorney’s office said.
Prosecutors said the indictment charged Ahliek Leonard with intentionally causing Andrew Miller’s death by shooting him with a handgun after the two had a verbal altercation at the Delaware Avenue KFC/ Taco Bell restaurant where Leonard worked.
Leonard is expected to get 24 years in state prison in addition to five years of supervision after his release, according to the district attorney’s office. His sentencing is set for July 8 and Miller’s family members will be given orders of protection against Leonard.
