Manslaught­er admitted

A 19-year-old Albany man pleaded guilty to firstdegre­e manslaught­er in Albany County Court Wednesday after being indicted for shooting a 36-year-old man to death in November, the Albany County district attorney’s office said.

Prosecutor­s said the indictment charged Ahliek Leonard with intentiona­lly causing Andrew Miller’s death by shooting him with a handgun after the two had a verbal altercatio­n at the Delaware Avenue KFC/ Taco Bell restaurant where Leonard worked.

Leonard is expected to get 24 years in state prison in addition to five years of supervisio­n after his release, according to the district attorney’s office. His sentencing is set for July 8 and Miller’s family members will be given orders of protection against Leonard.
