Padres combine to blank Phillies

Mike Clevinger tossed one-hit ball over five shutout innings and combined with two relievers to lead the San

Diego Padres to a

3-0 win over the Philadelph­ia Phillies on Tuesday night.

Clevinger (1-0) won for the first time in three starts this season. He missed last season while rehabbing after Tommy John surgery. The righty tossed five innings for the first time this year, striking out five and walking none over 75 pitches.

Mackenzie Gore struck out four in three scoreless innings and Taylor Rogers worked the ninth for his 14th save as the Padres moved 10 games over .500 (23-13).

Rays 8, Tigers 1: Kevin Kiermaier, Brett Phillips and Randy Arozarena each homered and drove in two runs, Shane Mcclanahan struck out seven in seven innings and Tampa Bay beat Detroit.

Blue Jays 3, Mariners 0: Jose Berrios and two relievers combined on a six-hitter, George Springer provided all the offense with a bases-loaded triple, and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Seattle Mariners.

White Sox 3-1, Royals 0-2:

Brady Singer outdueled Davis Martin as Kansas City beat the Chicago White

Sox 2-1 in the second game of a doublehead­er. The White Sox won the first game 3-0.

Dodgers 7, Diamondbac­ks 6: Mookie Betts, Trea Turner and Justin Turner homered in a five-run sixth inning, and Los Angeles outlasted Arizona to begin the first doublehead­er ever played by the NL West rivals.

Reds 5, Guardians 4 (10): Mike Moustakas drew the third straight walk in the 10th inning by Cleveland reliever Nick Sandlin to force in a run, and Cincinnati hung on for the win.

Cubs 7, Pirates 0: Keegan Thompson combined with three relievers on a five-hitter, and the Chicago Cubs shut out Pittsburgh for the second straight game to extend their winning streak to a season-best four.

Marlins 5, Nationals 1: Miguel Rojas homered, doubled and singled to lead Miami over Washington.

Braves 3, Brewers 0: Ronald Acuna Jr. returned to action, Marcell Ozuna hit a two-run homer and Atlanta ended its scoring drought in a victory over Milwaukee.

Notes: Orioles pitcher Matt Harvey was suspended for 60 games by Major League Baseball for distributi­ng a prohibited drug of abuse, a punishment stemming from his admission of providing opioids to a teammate who fatally overdosed. The former New York Mets star also admitted in February during a federal trial in Texas stemming from Los Angeles Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs’ death that he used cocaine while in New York and California . ...
