- By Steve Barnes

Youth FX, an organization that offers training and mentorship in digital arts to young members of underserved populations in the city’s South End, Arbor Hill and West Hill neighborhoods, will showcase the world premieres of short films and documentaries made over the past two years by participants in its programs.

The screenings start at 7 p.m. on Thursday and Tuesday at Landmark’s Spectrum 8 Theatres, 290 Delaware Ave. Thursday: Narrative and documentary films primarily produced as part of the 2021 Youth FX five-week summer program, during which 16 young people ages 14 to 18 learned technical and creative aspects of filmmaking and digital media. Also being screened are films from Youth FX’S newest program, the History Reclamation Project, a collaboration with students at the Albany International Center, and short docs made in 2020. A Q&A with filmmakers, cast and crew will follow the screening. Tuesday: Short, portrait-style documentary films produced by filmmakers from the Youth FX Upstate Arts2work Fellowship. Upstate Arts2work is a paid, yearlong job-training fellowship program for young adults seeking to build careers as digital-media artists.

Tickets for each screening cost $10 ($8 for students) and are available on eventbrite.com by searching for Youth FX.
