The Boss returning to road

Bruce Springsteen

and the E Street Band will begin a U.S. tour next winter before heading to Europe and then returning for a second leg of the North American tour next summer.

It will mark Springsteen’s return to touring with his legendary band after what will have been a six-year absence from arenas and stadiums.

Springsteen announced the European dates overnight but as of Tuesday afternoon had not released dates or locations for North American shows.

The European leg will start with an April 28 performance in Barcelona.

Springsteen might be New Jersey’s most famous resident but on tour he’s made a home for himself in Albany. Since Springsteen and the E Street Band reunited in 1999, every tour with the band and his solo Devils and Dust tour has stopped at the Pearl Street arena. He’s played here seven times.

“After six years, I’m looking forward to seeing our great and loyal fans next year,” Springsteeen said in a statement posted on his website. “And I’m looking forward to once again sharing the stage with the legendary E Street Band. See you out there, next year — and beyond.”

Springsteen and the band last toured together in 2016-2017. They were the top-grossing touring act in 2016.

The planned European stops also include Dublin; Paris; Ferrara, Italy; Rome; Amsterdam; Landgraaf, The Netherlands; Zurich; Düsseldorf, Germany; Gothenburg, Sweden; Oslo; Copenhagen; Hamburg, Germany; Vienna; Munich and Monza, Italy. Shows in the United Kingdom and Belgium will be announced in the future.
