CDTA boosting parking fees at Rensselaer train station
In the first hike since 2013, daily rates will increase by $2 or $3 in lots, garage
RENSSELAER — To better reflect what comparable stations are charging, among other reasons, parking rates at the Albany-rensselaer train station will rise this spring, Capital District Transportation Authority officials said.
The increases, which CDTA says are the first hikes since 2013, will apply to the garage and the three different surface lots.
Changes will be effective on April 3. Rates are reviewed for adjustment every few years. CDTA’S board announced the increases Wednesday. The changes were originally approved in early 2020 but delayed because of the pandemic. Travel levels are now resuming, another reason cited for the new rates.
The new rates will allow CDTA to keep up with maintenance and improvements at the station and its associated facilities, the authority said.
The changes are as follows:
Garage Rate: Daily rate will increase from $12 to $14. The rate for seven consecutive days will be $70.
Surface Lot A: Daily rate will increase from $8 to $10. The rate for seven consecutive days will be $50.
Surface Lot B: Daily rate will increase from $7 to $10. The rate for seven consecutive days will be $50.
Surface Lot C: Daily rate will increase from $8 to $10. The rate for seven consecutive days will be $50.
Customers with disabilities will pay half daily rates and seven-consecutive-day rates.
Customers can park on the top deck free of charge for one hour. The parking garage and surface lots cost $2 per hour until the daily maximum is reached.
Anyone needing more information about the rates may call CDTA’S Customer Information Center at 518-482-8822. Customer service representatives are on duty from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays and holidays.
