Illuminocity winners named in Schenectady
SCHENECTADY — Mayor Gary Mccarthy and the Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation announced the award winners of Schenectady’s second annual lighting experience and promotion, Illuminocity, at a reveal party Wednesday evening at the Schenectady Armory Center.
During Illuminocity, participating properties partnered with local nonprofits in a friendly but competitive decorating contest to light up buildings downtown. It started at the Holiday Parade on Nov. 19 and ran through Jan. 14. This year, 25 businesses, organizations and nonprofits participated.
Award winners in each category:
People’s Choice: Bear and Bird Boutique + Gallery/ Schenectady ARC Horticulture Center.
Most Creative: First place — Habitat for Humanity of Schenectady County (self-hosting); second place — Law Office of Kathleen M. Toombs/ Legacy Project - Capital Region Veterans Memorial; third place — The Silver Shop/things of My Very Own.
Schenectady Pride: First place — M/E Engineering/sicm; second place — Meier Law Firm/safe Inc. of Schenectady; third place — Pioneer/miracle on Craig Street.
Most Traditional: First place — Schenectady Hardware & Electric/ Northern Rivers Family of Services; second place — Highbridge Management/umbrella of the Capital District; third place — The Schenectady Trading Company/schenectady Greenmarket. Parade Theme: First place — Suriano’s Deli/ Animal Protective Foundation; second place — Proctors Collaborative (self-hosting); third Place — Urban Co-works/mission Accomplished Transition Services.
