Charlotte rallies past Miami

Rozier, Washington help last-place Hornets erase 13-point hole against Heat

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Terry Rozier scored 31 points, P.J. Washington had 27 and the Charlotte Hornets stopped Miami’s three-game winning streak with a 122-117 victory on Sunday.

Lamelo Ball scored 13 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter as Charlotte improved to 7-16 at home. Gordon Hayward was a perfect 7-of-7 from the field for 20 points.

Rozier also had seven assists and six rebounds. He was 11-for-19 from the field, including a 5-for-11 performance from 3-point range.

Jimmy Butler scored 28 points for Miami, and Tyler Herro had 24.

The Heat led 62-58 after Rozier banked in a 3 from the midcourt logo to close out the first half.

Miami went on a 10-1 run to start the third quarter. Herro knocked down two 3-pointers to help the Heat open a 13-point lead.

But Charlotte came storming back behind Washington and Rozier.

Grizzlies 112, Pacers 100: Ja Morant had 27 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds, and Jaren Jackson Jr. added 28 points for Memphis. Benedict Mathurin led Indiana with 27 points and eight rebounds. The Pacers’ twotime blocks champion Myles Turner agreed to a two-year extension.

Lakers: Lebron James (left ankle) and Anthony Davis (right foot) will miss Monday’s game against Brooklyn, the first on back-toback nights in New York.

Mavericks: Luka Doncic is questionable for Monday’s game against Detroit with a left ankle sprain.

Note: The Referees Association said Lebron James was fouled on the last play of regulation in the L.A. Lakers’ game against the Boston Celtics. The NBA office also confirmed for the second time that a foul should have been called. “Like everyone else, referees make mistakes,” the union wrote in its tweet. “We made one at the end of last night’s game and that is gut-wrenching for us. This play will weigh heavily and cause sleepless nights as we strive to be the best referees we can be.” James got the ball about 35 feet from the basket, with 4.1 seconds remaining in what was a tied game at Boston on Saturday night. He split two defenders as he got into the lane, then went airborne and got past Jayson Tatum as well. James laid the ball up with his left hand, Tatum clearly made contact with James’ shooting arm, no foul was called and the game went to overtime. Had a foul been called, James would have gone to the free-throw line with an opportunity to put the Lakers ahead with 1.8 seconds remaining. The Celtics wound up winning the game in overtime, 125-121.
