LOUDONVILL­E — Marian Elizabeth (nee Taromino) Hunter, 86 of Cohoes, passed away on January 24, 2023, at Eddy Village Green, Cohoes.

Born in Malden, Mass. on February 22, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John Ignatius and Harriet Edith (nee Colburn) Taromino.

She was raised and educated in Massachuse­tts. She attended Malden Hospital School of Nursing and worked as · àcçc ʱ† ä±l³ ‹¯ oƒ±†±…ƒ moved into anesthesia, and she began employment with Carney Hospital in Boston as a C.R.N.A.

On June 15, 1963, Marian wed Dr. Joseph Hunter and Marian dedicated her life to raising her family. Together they lived in Natick, Mass. for several years before moving to Tomhannock, N.Y. They were members of St. Monica’s Church in Johnsonvil­le where Marian taught religious education and was a volunteer for the church.

Marian was actively involved in important community initiative­s. Just a few examples include pro-life work, working behind the scenes to help create St. Joseph’s Shelter in Troy, and providing individual fans for every child at a local children’s institutio­n. She was an example to all of us to stand up for what is right regardless of the cost, and she did so behind the scenes refusing accolades. She was known to provide physical, emotional ·³ 䍷µo·l ·……o…ƒ·µ± ƒ‹ anyone who needed her.

In addition to her parents, Marian was predecease­d by two sisters, Helen Shivvers and Marie Godfrey; as well as her sister-in-law, Mary “Theresa” Hunter. She was also predecease­d by her husband, Dr. Joseph A. Hunter. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth (Kevin) Madigan of Melrose, Catherine (Michael) Gilhooly of Delanson, John Hunter of Watervliet, Joanne Hunter of Watervliet and Michael (Jennifer) Hunter of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Natalie Taromino of Woodstock, Ga.; six grandchild­ren, Andrew, Joseph and Richard Madigan and Daniel, Benjamin and Thomas Hunter; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
