Saratoga, Bethlehem join AA listings

Four teams enter the top five in their class

We are back to a normal schedule this week as the races for regular-season titles in the seven area leagues have two weeks remaining.

The competitio­n to land a top-four seed in the Class AA sectionals figures to be fierce prior to the Feb. 15 seeding meeting.

CLASS AA

1. Mekeel Christian Academy (9-2, Last Week No. 1):

Terrence Robinson and Nykim Taylor each tallied 16 points as the Lions dropped a 55-51 decision against Eagle Academy.

2. Ballston Spa (12-1, LW No. 2): The Scotties, ranked No. 20 in the state, received a season-best 29 points from senior point guard Nick Verdile in posting an 81-70 victory against Columbia.

3. Bethlehem (10-5, LW Not rated):

Cam Laclair pumped in 24 points to lead the Eagles to their seventh straight victory with a 66-48 win Friday at Colonie.

4. Colonie (10-5, LW No. 4): The Garnet Raiders will look to maintain their spot in the rankings as they travel Tuesday to take on Saratoga Springs.

5. Saratoga Springs (10-4, LW NR):

Hutton Snyder netted a season-high 22 points to help the Blue Streaks secure a 73-67 decision over Shaker.

Teams to watch: Albany (7-7), CBA (7-6), Green Tech (7-7), Niskayuna (7-8), Shaker (10-4)

CLASS A

1. Albany Academy (11-4, LW No. 1):

Bobby Chandler poured in 28 points on Senior Night to lead the Cadets to a 71-62 victory against Rice Memorial.

2. Amsterdam (14-1, LW No. 2): The Rams collected their seventh straight win by beating Gloversvil­le 69-62 in Foothills Council action.
