QUEENSBURY — The Planet Fitness gym at the Aviation Mall has officially reopened following a $1 million renovation project, according to the club’s franchisee, IGNITE Fitness Holdings.

The gym, at 578 Aviation Road, has expanded by 2,000 square feet and now features updated cardio equipment, a new Hydromassage bed that uses heated water to provide a massage experience and a PF 360, a functional training machine with kettlebells and resistance bands, according to a news release.

“As the Queensbury community works toward their fitness resolutions or are looking to get moving, we’re happy to announce this expansion, providing even more space for our members to spread out and utilize our state-of-the-art equipment,” said John Hrinda, upstate New York vice president of operations for IGNITE Fitness Holdings, in a statement. “The Queensbury community continues to invest in us, which always brings a sense of pride. We’re thrilled to have made these investments to further help them meet their health and fitness goals.”

The club, which now offers more than 16,500 square feet of fitness space, will celebrate the completion of the remodel with a promotion available up until Thursday, Feb. 16, when members can join the gym for $1 down and then $10 a month.

Planet Fitness, known for its “judgment free” slogan, has over 2,400 locations nationwide. IGNITE Fitness Holdings is one of the largest Planet Fitness franchisees, their statement says, and operates more than 100 Planet Fitness clubs in the U.S. in addition to the Queensbury gym.
