Spenziero, Delano a 1-2 diving punch for Siena

The Siena women’s swim and diving team will send its one-two diving punch to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference swim championsh­ip starting Wednesday in Buffalo.

Junior Talia Spenziero, from Clifton Park and a Shenendeho­wa High graduate, and senior Lydia Delano, of

Burnt Hills and a Burnt Hills-ballston Lake High graduate, have been solid all season. Spenziero is seeded first in the 1-meter (271.26) and is second behind Delano in the 3-meter (283.12). Delano, who is second to her teammate in the 1-meter (269.03), is tops in the 3meter (288.81).

Both divers have experience competing in the MAAC championsh­ip. Delano was fourth in the 1-meter and eighth in the 3-meter last season. Spenziero finished seventh in the 1-meter and 10th in the 3meter.

The women aren’t entering the championsh­ip unnoticed. Spenziero was named Diver of the Week four times and Delano earned back-to-back honors (Jan. 18 and Jan. 25) during the regular season.

Other area swimmers who figure to score points for the Saints are senior Lauren Ostrander (Shenendeho­wa High), distance freestyle; junior Demi Bobarakis (Niskayuna High), butterfly; freshman Kaci Owens (Burnt Hills-ballston Lake High), freestyle and backstroke; sophomore Olivia Martin (Guilderlan­d High), breaststro­ke, and junior Emily Sulik (Ravena-coeymans-selkirk Central), backstroke and breaststro­ke.

Keegan Zoller (Ballston Spa)

The 6-foot-6 sophomore guard has played in all 23 games with 16 starts for the St. Rose men’s basketball team. The Golden Knights are 9-14 overall and 3-12 in the

Northeast-10 Conference after a 72-67 league victory over New Haven on Wednesday. The Ballston Spa High graduate had 11 points in the game. He’s averaging 6.5 points and 3.3 rebounds with 25 assists. He has connected on 25-of-75 3-point attempts

(33.3 percent). Zoller had a season-high 17 points against Dominican.

Jeremy Rosario (Colonie)

The 6-3 freshman is seeing more playing time and making the most of it for the Cobleskill men’s basketball team. The Fighting Tigers are 16-7 overall and 7-5 in the North Atlantic Conference. The Colonie High graduate has scored in double figures in six of the team’s past eight games with 16 points against Cazenovia and 14 points against SUNY Poly. He’s averaging 7.4 points a game. Sophomore Janyve Smith (Bishop Maginn) is averaging 9.8 points and 4.4 rebounds with 33 assists and 26 steals.

Guerin Dupuis (Brunswick)

The Hudson Valley men’s indoor track team opened its limited season and it came against Division III teams at the Wesleyan Invitation­al on Jan. 28. The Columbia High graduate finished third in the shot put (39 feet, 9¼ inches) and eighth in the weight throw (33-10¾). Freshman Jonathan Hanna (Columbia High) was fourth in the high jump (5-7) and eighth in the long jump (19-2). Freshman Xavier Hughes (Albany High) finished seventh in the 60-meter hurdles (9.95 seconds).

Elijah Tortorici (Clifton Park)

The 6-0 senior opposite leads the 3-5 Sage men’s volleyball team in kills with 52. The Mohonasen High graduate also has 42 digs, 12

service aces and 10 blocks. Junior Joseph Vice (Mohonasen High) has a teamhigh 11 blocks and 30 kills. Senior Asuan Farrell (Mohonasen High) has chipped in with 33 digs. Graduate student Ryan Jennings of North Brunswick, N.J., leads the team with 161 assists while sophomore Jack Mcwilliam of Fishkill has a team-high 88 digs.

Saige Roberts (Albany)

The junior continues to be a scoring force for the 8-7 Bryant & Stratton Albany women’s basketball team. The Vermont Academy graduate had a seasonhigh 35 points in a 91-74 loss to Manhattanv­ille on Jan. 11 and had 28 points in a 71-38 triumph over Berkeley on Jan. 15. She’s averaging 18.3 points and 4.3 rebounds a game with a team-high 32 assists and 28 steals. The Bobcats are also getting steady play from junior Hasjina Gaddy (Albany High), who is averaging 10.0 points and a teamhigh 6.9 rebounds.

Devon Haye (Catskill)

The Columbia- Greene men’s basketball team is just 3-17 on the season, but the Twins are getting a big effort from the 6-6 sophomore center. The Catskill High graduate leads the team in scoring (12.7) and rebounding (8.3) and he also has 23 assists and a team-high 14 blocks. Haye had a season-high 29 points in an 81-79 loss to Onondaga CC on Jan. 28. Sophomore Alex Curtis (Greenwich Central) is averaging 10.6 points a game and freshman Chrischen Chung (La Salle Institute) is averaging 10.5.
