- Sports staff

Freshman Jonathan Beagle now stands alone.

The Ualbany forward set the school record Monday for most America East Rookie of the Week awards, taking home the prize for the eighth time this season.

The Hudson Falls native broke the mark he tied last week that was set by Jon Iati during the 2003-04 season.

In two games this week, Beagle averaged 17 points and 14 rebounds for the Great Danes. He first dropped in 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in an 81-74 home victory over UMBC. He followed it up with an 18-point, 13 rebound game in a twopoint loss on the road to Maine. He added eight assists, two blocks, and a steal over the two contests. He had five doubledoubles this season. This is the second consecutive week Beagle has been named the conference’s Rookie of the Week. Last

week, Beagle tied Iati’s record after averaging 14 points and nine rebounds.

Last season, men’s basketball forward Justin

Neely claimed the award six times before being named the conference’s Rookie of the Year.

Kayla Cooper was named America East Player of the Week after leading Ualbany to victories over UMBC and Maine. She averaged 18 points and 11 rebounds in the contests along with three assists, earning her second straight Player of the Week award.

Men’s lacrosse: Siena’s Dylan Pape was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Faceoff Player of the Week on Monday. Pape, a senior, won 23 of 30 faceoffs for a .766 percentage in an 18-11 loss to Providence. Women’s lacrosse: Junior Katie Pascale was named America East Offensive Player of the Week for her performance against Cornell on Saturday. The junior midfielder scored five goals and had four assists in the 18-15 defeat. Her five goals came on only eight shots, seven of which were on target.
