Why do E-zpass transactions take so long to post?
Q: I traveled the Thruway on Feb. 2 and the (toll) transactions were posted anywhere from Feb. 3 to Feb. 16. Why does it take so long? Are there any plans to have them post quicker? It’s bad enough to have multiple transactions each way between Albany and the Syracuse area but having them delayed makes it even worse. Are there plans to get the tolls combined for each trip so there would only be one listed? These two issues make it difficult for someone who travels for work and has to submit their tolls in order to be reimbursed.

East Greenbush A: E-zpass and Tolls by Mail transactions generally post within a week of the date of travel, according to Thruway Authority spokesperson Jonathan Dougherty. But a number of factors can make the process take longer, including traveling on free sections, commuter discounts and improperly mounted tags. Those transactions undergo a separate process and receive “further review for quality assurance,” Dougherty said.
If your E-zpass transactions regularly take longer than a week to post, the Thruway Authority may be able to help you. The customer service number is 800-333-8655.
Unfortunately, there are no plans to consolidate transactions as you suggest, according to Dougherty. Troy’s Fourth Street
closed: The Troy Department of Public Utilities is closing Fourth Street from Main Street to Tyler Street from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday to complete maintenance on the water system. Residents should use Second Street to go south. Water service is not expected to be interrupted.
CDTA service changes: As of Sunday, the Capital District Transportation Authority eliminated the stop at 15th Street and Park Boulevard on Route #289, which runs from Griswold Heights to St. Mary’s Hospital. Additionally, the southbound stop at 15th Street and Massachusetts Avenue has been relocated to outside of St. Mary’s Hospital.
CDTC open house: The Capital District Transportation Committee will hold an open house for the public to ask questions and give feedback on the 2023-2024 Unified Planning Work Program from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at 1 Park Place in Albany.
