▪ Sue Commanda, chief executive officer of Hudson River Community Credit Union, was named as the newest member of the Women Presidents’ Organization, a collective of women entrepreneurs and business leaders from around the world. Commanda will join a board comprised of 20 accomplished women business leaders committed to strengthening the organization’s profile, the group said.
▪ A program of the Center for Disability Services and Albany Medical Center has received $1.5 million in state funds, which will go to capital improvements to the center’s primary care clinic, including interior and exterior renovations, equipment purchases and ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
It will also allow the center to make equipment purchases and building modifications for growth in its community partnership opportunities, including the ability to offer routine blood draw stations in conjunction with Albany Med.
▪ U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg announced $750,720 for the North Adams Route 2 Overpass Study through the new Reconnecting Communities Pilot Program, an initiative to reconnect communities cut off from opportunity and burdened by past transportation infrastructure decisions.
▪ The state Department of Environmental Conservation’s 2022 hunting recap noted one fatality in the past year, which tied with 2021 as having the lowest number of hunting-related shooting incidents: nine. Last year’s lone fatality was on May 12 in Schoharie where a 76-year-old turkey hunter fell from a tree stand and accidentally discharged a firearm, striking the hunter in the hand and head.
