KINGSTON — Virginia L. Costakis of Kingston passed away on February 24, 2023, at the Golden Hill Nursing Home in Kingston shortly after her family had said their goodbyes and told her it was time to join her loving parents waiting on the other side.

She was the daughter of the late Earl and Shirley Jones-janssen, who will be remembered for loving their children with all their hearts. Virginia later shared the loved learned from her parents with her late husband, Hans Costakis, and their son, Christophe­r and daughter-inlaw, Jackie.

Virginia became a single mother young, raising Chris alone when he was only eight years old. She made it her life goal to ensure her son was taken care of and loved to the fullest of her abilities. Chris remembers his mother by saying “She was an amazing mother and showed me nothoq ¶ƒ l‹±c É ä³ · oƒ±…± sadness in my heart for my own children who will not be able to share the love that I did with their grandmothe­r.”

Virginia is survived by her son, Christophe­r (Jackie) Costakis; her grandchild­ren, Rowan Grace Costakis and Christophe­r Hans Costakis Jr.; her wonderful siblings, Rick, Lawrence and Debbie Janssen; and her niece and nephew, Rick Janssen Jr. and Samantha Janssen.

Family and friends are invited to visit with Virginia’s family in the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main St., Altamont on Saturday, March 4, from 4 to 6 p.m. A prayer service will follow the visitation in the funeral home. Interment will be in the spring in the Knox Cemetery, Knox.
