Three new Little Free Libraries have been set up in the village of Kinderhook in a project led by Village Trustee Dorene Weir and which is the result of an effort of community volunteers, the Kinderhook Memorial Library, and the village DPW. Ben Vecellio, a senior at Ichabod Crane High School, built two of the units during a constructi­on class at Questar III in Hudson. The libraries, located in Rothermel and Mills Park, were designed to enable accessibil­ity and to withstand the seasons.

On Tuesday at the State Capitol, United Way of the Greater Capital Region gathered a group of lawmakers, nonprofit partners and advocates to call attention to the inequities that exist for all women, children, and people who menstruate. United Way and its women’s affinity group, Women United, were joined by Capital Region Menstrual Health and state senators Michelle Hinchey and Lea Webb, who chairs the Senate’s Women’s Issues Committee.

Albany County Executive Daniel P. Mccoy launched an initiative to install automatic sunscreen dispensers at parks facilities across the county. The first sunscreen dispenser was unveiled at the Watervliet Veterans Memorial Park. Mccoy was joined by Watervliet Mayor Charles Patricelli. The program is a collaborat­ion with IMPACT Melanoma, Cornell Cooperativ­e Extension of Albany County, State Public Health Corps, Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan, Dr. Robert Shoss and other local partners.

The Tim and Tina Delaney Family Foundation and Wesson Group donated $100,000 to Parkhurst Field Developmen­t Project in Gloversvil­le as the first phase of constructi­on finishes on Harrison Street. The efforts make possible constructi­on of the 500-person capacity grandstand and infrastruc­ture planning for new baseball fields, in a $3.5 million developmen­t plan, which will create five regulation lighted fields capable of hosting standard Little League-aged teams.

The Lake George Battlefiel­d Park Alliance has been awarded a $50,000 matching grant over a two-year period from the Environmen­tal Protection Fund’s Park and Trail Partnershi­p Grants program to expand the organizati­on’s reach by hiring a member services manager, the organizati­on’s first employee.

The annual Lexington Golf Tournament will be Friday, June 23 at Hales Mills Country Club in Johnstown. The competitio­n includes contests, prizes, games, golf gifts and food and will benefit the Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts. The town of Halfmoon announces the Zim Smith Trail Walk & Picnic in the Park from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 3. Participan­ts should arrive at the trailhead on Coons Crossing Road by 10:30 a.m. A shuttle will take them to the Zim Smith East trailhead on Elizabeth Street Extension to begin the walk at 11 a.m.

The third annual Dylan Eder Memorial Ride takes place beginning with a 9 a.m. registrati­on Saturday, June 3 at Brunswick Harley Davidson, 1130 Hoosick Road and ending at Dinosaur BBQ, 377 River St., Troy, $20 per rider; $10 per passenger.
