Decitise, Troy dominate

Olivia Decitise was her usual dominant self on the mound as Troy cruised into the Class A softball state quarterfin­als with a 9-0 win over Jamesville­rally.

That was more than enough for Decitise, who struck out 12 in her 19th win of the season. The only hit Decitise allowed was a single by Sophia Zoghby.

Troy will next play Massena of Section X at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Malta.

Baseball: Drake Stewart got the win on the mound and went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Hartford-fort Edward to a 12-1 win over Lake Placid in the Class D regional semifinals. The Tanaforts took command of the game in the second inning when they sent 11 batters to the plate and scored six runs. Four of Hartford-fort Edward’s runs scored on sacrifice flies. Three runs came across after Aiden Foster’s single was misplayed by the Lake Placid defense. Stewart gave up one run in three innings to pick up the win. Hartford-fort Edward will play Parishvill­e-hopkinton of Section X at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Shuttlewor­th Park.

Track and field: Neil Howard of Taconic Hills won the Division 2 400-meter hurdles and pole vault on the first day of the Section II state qualifier at Shenendeho­wa. Titles were decided in several running and field events Thursday. The meet concludes at Shenendeho­wa on Friday afternoon.
