— Helen K. Anatriello, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Saratoga Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Cohoes, Helen was the daughter of the late Joseph and Tessie Michalicki Koniowka. She was a graduate of Cohoes High School. During her high school years, she was active in the Drum & Bugle Corps. It was there that she met the love of her life, Kenneth “Colonel” Anatriello. Following high school, they married and spent 63 wonderful years together until his passing in 2017. She often mentioned that one of the best times in her life was the years following Colonel’s retirement when they were able to travel and spend time with one another.

Helen’s life was defined by her unfailing commitment to her family. She was constantly planning and looking forward to the next holiday gathering, party or family function. She was always at her kids’ sporting events and became a huge sports fan. She especially enjoyed cheering on the Boston Red Sox and her Syracuse Orange teams.

Helen was also extremely proud of her Polish heritage. She was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Church in Cohoes, enjoyed Polka dancing with her husband, and was known for her delicious golumpkis.

Helen is survived by her beloved children, Mark Anatriello (Jean) of Schaghticoke, Matthew Anatriello (Kimberly) of Saratoga Springs, Monica Traver (Richard) of Halfmoon and Tina Harding (John) of Saratoga Springs; her adored grandchildren, Vincent (Caryn), Valerie (Michael), Janice (Ray), Kenneth (Marjorie), Nicholas (Stacy), Ryan and Katie (Luis); her eight great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, William “Wadz” Koniowka.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 3, at 9:30 a.m. in St. Michael’s Church, 20 Page Ave., Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Waterford. At Helen’s request, there will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 or to a charity of your choice.
