Hudson Police still searching for man missing since July

-

HUDSON — Police are still searching for Robert J. Coons after a multi-agency search last Thursday came up empty.

Coons, 63, was last seen around 10:30 a.m. on July 6 near 325 Columbia St. in Hudson wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt. He is 5-foot-9, weighs 210 pounds and has blond hair and blue eyes, police said.

A relative of Coons’ reported him missing on July 9 when they called the Hudson Police Department saying they had not had contact with him for several days.

It was initially reported that Coons was living in the Schodack area but would travel to Hudson for an appointment. Hudson Police confirmed that Coons did in fact attend a scheduled appointment on July 6.

Since then, Hudson Police have made numerous attempts to locate Coons. According to a release, patrol officers and detectives checked several known locations Coons would frequent when in Hudson. The Hudson Detective Division along with the State Police Troop K Major Crimes Unit have conducted extensive interviews, executed multiple search warrants and followed up on numerous leads.

The department was joined at last week’s largescale search by State Police, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, state Forest Rangers, Amtrak Police personnel, and K9 and aviation units.

“We will continue to work diligently to locate Robert J. Coons and hopefully bring some peace of mind to his family and to our community,” Hudson Police Chief Mishanda Franklin said in a statement.

Anyone with information on Coons’ whereabouts is encouraged to call the Hudson Police’s tip line at 518-828-9900 or the Detective Division at 518-8283388.
