Saint Rose rolls to another victory

ALBANY — The College of Saint Rose women’s soccer team jumped back into the win column with a 6-0 victory over visiting American Internatio­nal on Wednesday.

Coming off a tie vs. Southern New Hampshire, the Golden Knights got two goals from Mia Klammer to improve to 12-0-1 overall and 70-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference on the season.

Saint Rose raced out early on Sanna Rein’s goal in the fourth minute, and tallied four more before halftime. Klammer’s second goal 28 seconds into the second half closed the scoring.

Saint Rose hosts Bridgeport at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Hermoso back on Spain’s team

MADRID — The Women’s World Cup-winning player kissed on the lips by the former president of the Spanish soccer federation was called up again by the national team on Wednesday.

Jenni Hermoso was included in coach Montse Tomé’s squad for this month’s Nations League games against Italy and Switzerlan­d.

Hermoso was omitted from the first squad after the World Cup to protect her amid the controvers­y ignited by Luis Rubiales’ kiss at the awards ceremony, after Spain lifted the trophy in Australia in August.

Neymar suffers knee injury

Brazil forward Neymar tore his ACL and meniscus while playing in a World Cup qualifying game, his club Al Hilal confirmed Wednesday. The 31-year-old Neymar will need surgery. Al Hilal did not say how long he is expected to be out.

Tigers’ complex latest robbed

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic — The Detroit Tigers complex in the Dominican Republic was targeted Wednesday in the latest robbery of a Major League Baseball facility in the country, police said.

One man was apprehende­d and police are searching for four others who entered the complex with guns, restrained the security guard and went to the players’ rooms to steal valuables and cash, Dominican Police spokesman Diego Pesqueira told The Associated Press.

The robbery happened days after the St. Louis Cardinals complex in the country was hit.

Mcgregor won’t be charged

MIAMI — Former UFC champion Conor Mcgregor will not face sexual assault charges following an investigat­ion of allegation­s that surfaced during the NBA Finals last

June in Miami, his lawyer, police and prosecutor­s said Wednesday.

Keeneland plans new paddock

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Keeneland has announced plans to build a paddock and enhance the saddling paddock to expand viewing and improve safety for horses and spectators. The project is estimated at nearly $93 million.

Harden’s status up in the air

CAMDEN, N.J. — Philadelph­ia 76ers coach Nick Nurse said he had no explanatio­n for why James Harden skipped practice on Wednesday but planned to proceed as if the disgruntle­d guard will play in the preseason finale.

Harden has yet to play in the preseason. He did attend training camp and continued to practice with the 76ers in the wake of his offseason trade demand.

Messi makes more than $20M

NEW YORK — Lionel Messi’s annualized compensati­on from his Major League Soccer contract with Inter Miami is just over $20.4 million, the MLS Players Associatio­n said Wednesday.

Messi earns more than the entire payroll of all but three other MLS teams and twice as much as every player combined on Orlando City.
