• Adirondack Pub & Brewery said it has been recommended for a grant of up to $50,000 through the Empire State Development Craft Beverage Micro Grant Program to help build a nearly 3,000-square foot addition and purchase equipment to expand its brewing operation to meet increasing demand.
• The Northeastern Retail Lumber Association said Doug Ford of Curtis Lumber Company was elected the association’s new chair Dec. 7. The NRLA is an 1,100member association based in Rensselaer that represents independent lumber and building material suppliers and associated businesses in New York, New Jersey, the Mid-atlantic and the six New England states.
• The Delaware Valley Arts Alliance was awarded a planning grant from the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation for an architect to help restore, renovate and add programming space to the historic 1894 Arlington Hotel which houses the alliance’s offices, galleries and recital hall. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the four-story building is located at 37 Main St., Narrowsburg.
• The Guilderland Chamber of Commerce highlighted the 30th anniversary of Roman Jewels. Owner Marcella Michel may have changed locations over the years, but has stayed in Albany County and came to Guilderland five years ago, according to the chamber, which adds that the business is known for its TV commercials featuring a young boy, who is now all grown up.
• Hawthorne Valley
Farm is participating in a trial on enhanced rock weathering with the Yale Center for Natural Carbon Capture. As part of the study, 160 tons of crushed basalt was spread on one of the farm’s pastures in November.
• Private industry employers reported 138,900 nonfatal workplace injuries and illnesses in New York in 2022, resulting in an incidence rate of 2.3 cases per 100 full-time equivalent workers, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported this week. The agency said 91,600 incidents in New York’s private sector were of a more severe nature, resulting in days away from work, job transfer or restriction.
• Capital District Transportation Authority said that through November, there have been more than 10 million boardings throughout the
CDTA system. At this pace, it is on track to finish the fiscal year in March with close to 16 million customer boardings, more than before the pandemic began and one of its highest annual ridership counts in the last 15 years.
