Garceau, Helen (Romer) BALLSTON SPA

— Helen passed away on January 13, 2024, at the age of 89. She was raised in East Greenbush, N.Y., by wonderful parents, Joseph and Anna Lauer Romer. She and her beloved husband, Omer (who passed away on August 1, 2013), married in 1979.

She is survived by two sons, William J. Gervasio, Jr. (Cindy) of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and John J. Gervasio (Cheryl) of Ballston Spa, N.Y.; two stepchildr­en, Omer P. Garceau, Sr. (Jacquelin) of Bull City, Ariz., and Mary Katherine Bova (David) of Troy, N.Y.; seven grandchild­ren; and several great-grandchild­ren.

Helen is one of a family of eleven children. She was predecease­d by her brother, Joseph (Margaret) Romer; and sister, Ann (Clinton) Bonner. She is survived by siblings, Mary Catizone (Joseph), Dorthy Rapp (Robert), Betty Wall (James), Barbara Smith (Leonard), Henry (Helene) Romer, Michael (Mary) Romer, William (Deborah) Romer, and John (Sharon) Romer.

She was an office manager at Clear View Bag Co., Inc. in Albany, N.Y., prior to moving to Largo, Fla., in 1992. She lived in Largo for 26 years before moving to Ballston Spa, N.Y., where she resided for the last five years.

She was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Ballston Spa. While in Fla., she was a Eucharisti­c Minister and member of St. Catherine of Siena Church, Clearwater, Fla.

Helen’s family would like to acknowledg­e the loving care and compassion provided by Saratoga County Community Hospice and Mary’s Haven of Saratoga Springs, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations in the name of Helen Garceau may be given to Saratoga County Community Hospice and Mary’s Haven.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass, 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 17, at The Church of St. Mary at Clinton Heights, 163 Columbia Tpk., Rensselaer. Interment will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.
