La Salle climbs to No. 3 in Class AA
This is the latest edition of the boys’ basketball rankings list. The girls’ basketball rankings run each Friday.
There are once again19 stateranked teams among the six classifications. Topping the list of this week’s contests is a Suburban Council matchup Tuesday with Colonie playing at CBA and a Wednesday matchup in the Wasaren League between Stillwater and Mechanicville.
Class AAA
1. Colonie (13-0, Last week No. 1): The leader in the Suburban Council standings returns to action Tuesday with a rescheduled league contest at CBA.
2. Green Tech (8-5, LW No. 2): The Eagles, ranked No. 25 in the state, travel Friday to take on Shaker.
3. Shaker (11-2, LW No. 3): The Blue Bison collected their second straight victory Saturday with a 5341 decision over Shenendehowa at HVCC.
4. CBA (8-4, LW No. 5): The Brothers are set to entertain Niskayuna on Friday night in Suburban Council play.
5. Schenectady (7-6, LW No. 4): The Patriots play the second and third games in a four-game homestand Wednesday and Friday against Albany and Averill Park, respectively.
Class AA
1. Albany Academy (8-3, LW No. 1): The Cadets, ranked No. 6 in the state, play host to Shaker on Tuesday.
2. Mekeel Christian Academy (8-0, LW No. 2): The Lions have won three times against Section II competition with victories against Amsterdam, Christian Brothers Academy and La Salle.
3. La Salle (10-4, LW No. 4): Up next for the Cadets is a Colonial Council road game Saturday at Ichabod Crane.
4. Bethlehem (11-4, LW No. 5): The Eagles produced a huge road win Friday with a 59-54 decision at Niskayuna.
5. Niskayuna (11-3, LW No. 3): Has split six games since edging Shenendehowa 59-58 on Dec. 27.
Class A
1. CCHS (13-1, LW No. 1): The Crusaders utilized a 19-2 surge to close the game Saturday in posting a 70-53 victory over Lansingburgh.
2. Glens Falls (16-0, LW No. 2): Brody Holcomb tallied 26 points to help lead the Black Bears to an 8147 Foothills Council win against
Schuylerville.
3. Lansingburgh (10-4, LW No. 3):
The Knights return to Colonial Council action Friday with a home contest vs. Cohoes.
4. Ichabod Crane (9-3, LW No. 4): The Riders move outside league play Wednesday with a road contest at Bishop Gibbons.
5. Schalmont (8-7, LW No. 5): The Sabres are off until Friday when they compete in Colonial Council play at Voorheesville.
Team to watch: Gloversville (9-6)
Class B
1. Stillwater (13-0, LW No. 1):
Jaxon Mueller finished with 27 points and 18 rebounds, helping produce an 81-62 victory against Tamarac.
2. Mechanicville (11-2, LW No. 2):
The state’s No. 12-ranked squad takes its second shot Wednesday at beating Wasaren League leader Stillwater.
3. Watervliet (13-1, LW No. 3):
The Cannoneers resume their Patroon Conference schedule Friday with a contest at Chatham.
4. Hudson (13-1, LW No. 4):
The Bluehawks will take an eight-game winning streak into Friday’s game against Taconic Hills.
5. Fonda-fultonville (12-1, LW No. 5):
Riley Wilson pumped in 33 points as the state’s No. 17-ranked team posted a 67-20 win over Mayfield.
Teams to watch: Hoosick Falls (8-5), Schuylerville (9-4)
Class C
1. Duanesburg LW No. 1):
(13-2, Junior standout Jeffrey Mulhern delivered 38 points as the Eagles defeated
OESJ 88-38.
2. Hoosic Valley (9-5, LW No. 2): The Hawks are set to entertain Waterford (Tuesday) and Mechanicville (Friday) in Wasaren League action.
3. Maple Hill (9-4, LW No. 3): The Wildcats, ranked No. 24 in the state, hit the road Tuesday for a game at Germantown.
4. Berne-knox-westerlo (10-4, LW No. 4): The Bulldogs look to extend their winning streak to seven games Tuesday at Hadleyluzerne.
5. Saratoga Central Catholic (9-5, LW No. 5): The Saints face Wasaren League tests against Hoosick Falls on Wednesday and Stillwater on Friday.
Class D
1. North Warren (10-2, LW No. 1): Derrick Tyrell is
averaging 13.0 points and 16.3 rebounds per game for a squad riding an eight-game winning streak.
2. Argyle (10-3, LW No. 2):
The Scots compete Wednesday outside of Adirondack League play with a game against Berlin/new Lebanon.
3. Loudonville Christian (9-3, LW No. 3):
The Eagles, ranked No. 19 in the state, play Tuesday at Hawthorne Valley.
4. Fort Edward (5-6, LW No. 4):
The Flying Forts take on Whitehall on Wednesday in Adirondack League play.
5. Hawthorne Valley (4-3, LW No. 5):
The Wildcats, paced by 19 points from Oliver Towe, registered a 6434 victory against Huntertannersville.
