• The city of Rensselaer plans its first public workshop meeting for the Rensselaer Rising Plan from 6 to 7:30 p.m. March 7 at the Rensselaer City School, 25 Van Rensselaer Drive, Rensselaer. The event will begin with an information session reviewing the planning process, key components of the work completed so far and a summary of project survey results, city organizers said. It will be followed by an interactive session to gather input and feedback to guide recommendations for the plan.
• Edward F. Mcnamara was selected the new vice president for ambulatory services and physician practices at Columbia
Memorial Health in Hudson, a member of the Albanymed Health System. Mcnamara joins Columbia Memorial Health after a tenure as the executive director of Margaretville Memorial Hospital Campus at Westchester Medical Center.
• Hannaford Supermarkets and its customers recently raised more than $900,000 to support individuals and families experiencing food insecurity across New England and New York, including $200,000 for hunger relief efforts in New York.
• Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rensselaer County announces the fifth annual Farm Day Out event, a partnership with a Rensselaer County farm where the community can learn about where their food and fiber comes from. This year Farm Day Out is being hosted by Matt’s Maple Madness Sugar Operation from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 10 at 25 Quaker Road, Johnsonville.
• Hudson Valley Community College was awarded a $313,275 grant from the Offshore Wind Training Institute of the New York State Energy Research Development Authority to create a new microcredential to increase the pipeline of wind turbine service technicians. The grant provides full scholarships for up to 48 participants. The microcredential will be offered in the fall through the college’s
Community, Professional and Workforce Development office.
• Two local projects are among those to be awarded state funds to improve water quality, Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office said. The city of Schenectady will get $50,000 to study the Downtown District Pump Station modernization project. The village of Speculator will get $226,500 for wastewater treatment facility improvements to improve the Sacandaga River’s water quality.
• ADNET Technologies ,a managed IT services, cloud, and cybersecurity provider with an office on Wolf Road, Colonie, said it has been named to CRN’S 2024 Managed Service Provider 500 list in the Pioneer 250 category.
