Dolphins cut Howard, save $18.5M

MIAMI — The Dolphins are releasing cornerback Xavien Howard at the start of the new league year on March 13, a source said, parting ways with the longest-tenured player on the team.

Howard, 30, played eight seasons in Miami. The move saves Miami $18.5 million in cap space.

The Dolphins also released defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah, clearing $13.7 million in cap space.

NFL salary cap skyrockets

The NFL’S salary cap for 2024 will be $255.4 million, up a record $30.6 million from last year.
