All No. 1 squads hold ground

This is the final edition of the boys’ basketball rankings for this season. The last girls’ basketball rankings will run Friday.

Monday began semifinal play at Cool Insuring Arena and there will be games every day culminatin­g with four championsh­ip contests Saturday. The Class B and C polls do not reflect results from Monday’s contests in Glens Falls.

Class AAA

1. Colonie (21-0, Last week No. 1):

The top seed broke away from eighth-seeded Albany in the fourth quarter Sunday at HVCC in posting a 71-54 quarterfin­al victory over the Falcons.

2. Shaker (17-4, LW No. 2): The Blue Bison used a 24-0 surge during the third quarter to overcome a six-point deficit and went on to post a 79-70 quarterfin­al win against Schenectad­y.

3. Green Tech (15-6, LW No. 3):

The third-seeded Eagles built a 27-6 lead after one quarter by shooting 10-for-15 in the opening eight minutes and cruised to an easy 84-52 decision over sixth-seeded Saratoga Springs.

4. CBA (11-10, LW No. 5): Senior guard Matt Sgambati forced a turnover and scored the winning basket as time expired to propel the Brothers to a 52-50 triumph over Shenendeho­wa in the quarterfin­als.

5. Shenendeho­wa (11-10, LW No. 4): The No. 4 seed was unable to secure a second win in two weeks against CBA as a 4637 lead Sunday was erased in a 52-50 loss.

Class AA

1. Albany Academy (16-5, LW No. 1):

Ras Elijah Godbolt and Jack Louridas each scored 24 points Saturday to lead the Cadets to a 71-59 victory against John Bowne.

2. Mekeel Christian Academy (17-2, LW No. 2):

Terrance Clark topped all scorers with 26 points Sunday as the Lions earned a 53-41 quarterfin­al win over Mohonasen.

3. Niskayuna (17-4, LW No. 3): Gavin Olsen finished with 25 points and Daniel Smalls tallied 21 points and six assists to help lift the No. 1 seed to a 63-59 win against Columbia.

4. La Salle (16-5, LW No. 4): The Cadets secured a semifinal berth at Siena College by registerin­g a 75-49 win against South Glens Falls.

5. Bethlehem (16-6, LW No. 5):

The fourth-seeded Eagles emerged Sunday with a 49-39 quarterfin­al verdict over Queensbury.

Class A

1. CCHS (20-1, LW No. 1):

The top-seeded Crusaders cruised past Ravena-coeymansse­lkirk on Saturday in quarter
