GUILDERLAN­D — John G. Driessen, 75, of Guilderlan­d, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2024. John was born in Amsterdam, Holland, but had lived in the Albany area since his family emigrated to the United States when he was two years old. He was raised in Cedar Hill and was a graduate of Siena College, where he also taught for a short time. He served in the U.S. Air Force for several years, and was employed by the accounting firms of Teal, Becker & Chiaramont­e, and Brown & Fitzgerald. He then entered private practice as a Certified Public Accountant for many years. John was a talented musician and singer. He performed in his youth on the television show Teenage Barn, and later performed in the band The Graylocks among others. John also bowled for many years in a local league and was in a pistol league and a trap shooting league. He loved a sports car and at times owned a Corvette and a Porsche.

John is survived by his beloved partner Marsha J. Krist; his children Christophe­r J. Driessen of Albany, Laura F. Driessen of Coopersbur­g, Pa., and John M. Driessen of Manhattan; his siblings Jerry Driessen (Jan) of King of Prussia, Pa., Maria Candido of Summervill­e, S.C., Ansje Dean (Ralph) of Bluffton, S.C., and Rick Driessen (Kathi) of Rotterdam; his grandson Christophe­r D. Driessen; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs Willy and Jake.

Calling hours will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave, Albany on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Service and interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be made to Nothing But Love Canine Foundation, Mountain Rottie Rescue, or Free to Be Me Rescue.
