Batiste, Carlile, Fogerty join Tanglewood’s summer

BERKSHIRES, MASS. — Boston Symphony Orchestra’s 86th Popular Artist Series will welcome a parade of classic rock icons, pop stars and returning artists and debuts to Tanglewood’s Koussevitz­ky Music Shed this summer.

John Fogerty, lead singer and guitarist of Creedence Clearwater Revival, launches the summer concert series with Thorogood and the Destroyers and Hearty Har, featuring Forgerty’s sons Shane and Tyler, on June 20; Fogerty’s “Celebratio­n Tour” marks the first time he will perform his music since acquiring ownership of Creedence’s song catalog in January 2023.

Also included in the 2024 season is Roger Daltrey, lead singer of The Who, with special guest KT Tunstall returning to the Shed on June 22; Kool & the Gang celebratin­g good times with En Vogue on June 23; Grammy and Oscar winner Jon Batiste presenting a solo concert on June 28; the return of Brandi Carlile on June 30; and Jason Mraz making his Tanglewood debut alongside the Boston Pops on July 2.

These artists join four previously announced Tanglewood concerts: the sold-out 50th anniversar­y performanc­es of James Taylor and his All-star Band on July 3 and 4; the Pretenders on July 16; a triple bill of Judy Collins, Rufus Wainwright and the Indigo Girls on Aug. 30; and DISPATCH with Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops on Aug. 31.

Additional acts will be announced in the coming week. All performanc­es will be at the Shed and surroundin­g lawn, which seats a combined total of 18,000.

Tanglewood serves as the summer home for the Boston

Symphony Orchestra and its training academy and the Boston Pops. The Popular Artist series began as the Contempora­ry Trends concerts in 1968, which expanded Tanglewood’s musical offerings beyond its classical music programmin­g. Since its inception, artists including Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald,

Sheryl Crow, Robert Plant, Sting and Earth, Wind & Fire have played the Shed.

Tickets can be purchased through bso.org/ tanglewood or by calling the box office at 617-2661200 beginning at 10 a.m. March 19. The box office is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Some artists have strict limits on the number of tickets that can be purchased per person.
