Coxsackie featured in Tour of Homes
COXSACKIE — Greene County Historical Society’s 44th annual Tour of Homes features Coxsackie from the river to the hills from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 1. The town and village were where the first tour of homes took place in 1976. Tour headquarters will be at the Vedder Research Library on the Society’s Bronck Museum grounds, County Route 42 off Route 9W.
Picnic lunches prepared by the Coxsackie United Methodist Church will be for sale. The tour will be held rain or shine. Tickets are $30 the day of the tour; $25 in advance for the driving tour. Carpooling is encouraged as some sites have limited parking. Participants will receive a packet of material about the sites along with a route map.
To reserve tickets, send a check payable to: Greene County Historical Society, P.O. Box 44, Coxsackie, NY 12051. Advance sale ticket reservations must be received by May 25. Advance tickets will be available with tour packets at the tour headquarters June 1.

March 23 activities at Fort William Henry
LAKE GEORGE — To kick off a year of celebration marking the 70th anniversary of the Fort William Henry Museum, the French and Indian War Society at Lake George has a day of events planned Saturday.
Events will take place at the Fort William Henry Hotel’s Conference Center and Lake George Battlefield Park. Admission is free.
• 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Sutlers’ Fair in the Fort William Henry Conference Center, featuring authentic crafts as well as tastings provided by local craft breweries, wineries and distilleries.
• 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: French and Indian War Reenactments at Lake George Battlefield Park. The Battlefield Visitors Center will be open. It features numerous artifacts from the Battle of Lake George and the Siege of Fort William Henry. Spectators and reenactors are invited to the conference center after the battles to warm up.
• 3 p.m. Survival on the Frontier: Foraging in the Adirondacks by Melanie Sawyer, a historical forager and a star of The History Channel’s “Alone” series. She will share experiences of living off the grid, focusing on healthy and historical foods naturally found in the Adirondacks.
