• The Envision Scotia Committee will hold a final public meeting for the village’s plan from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 15, at Mohawk Taproom and Grill, 153 Mohawk Ave. Envision Scotia is a comprehensive planning effort aimed at attracting investment and revitalizing the village of Scotia.
• Applications are being accepted for those interested in being a part of the Leadership Saratoga program. Sponsored by the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce, the program is dedicated to the development of leaders who will serve their communities today and in the future. Anyone interested in learning more or considering applying to be a member of the class of 2024-25 can visit www.leadershipsaratoga.org.
• Schenectady County is now accepting applications for the 2024 Summer Youth Employment Program. Applicants must be 14-24 years old by the start of the program and be a county resident. Applications are available at https://bit.ly/2024schcosyep or by calling 518-344-2737 and must be received by April 12. • Union Grove Distillery in Arkville said owner and distiller Brian Mulder will appear on Discovery Channel’s “Moonshiners: Master Distiller” at 10:07 p.m. April 16 when three distillers from across the United States compete to become master distiller. Union Grove will host a screening party for the episode at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20.
• A ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand reopening will take place at Giorgio’s The Salon beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 7 at 3 Johnson Road in Latham, according to the Colonie Chamber of Commerce. Owner Tom Rosselli and his team have renovated Giorgio’s and are celebrating to start the day, the chamber said.
• In January and February, Saratoga County sales tax collections totaled just over $26 million, up 2 percent versus the same time in 2023, the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce said. “Consistent growth in sales tax collections at what is generally a slower time of the year for our local economy is hopefully a good sign for the balance of the year,” chamber President Todd Shimkus noted in a newsletter. The city of Saratoga Springs collected $2.39 million in sales taxes in January and February, up from $2.18 million or 9.7 percent.
• The Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce announces its scholarship program for a high school senior graduating from a Fulton or Montgomery County high school in June. This year’s program will consist of five, one-time, $1,000 awards. Applications can be found at https://www.fultonmontgomeryny.org/scholarship/ or by contacting your high school guidance office.
