Desanto powers Albany Academy past Ichabod Crane

Nico Desanto had a huge day at the plate as Albany Academy twice rallied from behind to beat Ichabod Crane 10-5 Tuesday in a Colonial Council baseball in Albany.

Manny Santos allowed no hits, walked four and struck out seven in 3 2/3 innings of relief to earn the win. He also drove in a run and scored twice.

Desanto, the Cadets third baseman and No. 3 hitter in the lineup, doubled three times, knocked in four runs and scored two runs. Leadoff hitter Willie Kimbler had two hits and scored four times. Girls’ lacrosse: Caroline Marotta scored five goals to lead Bethlehem to a 9-5 win over Colonie. Maeve Conway and Brianna Fabian each added two goals in the win while Maddy Ward made six saves. Softball: Leah Miller tossed seven shutout innings to lead Guilderlan­d past Averill Park 5-0 in a Suburban Council contest.

Miller allowed just four hits, walked none and struck out three to earn the victory. Meghan Paul led the Lady Dutch offense with a 3-for-4 performanc­e including a double, triple, RBI and a run scored . ... Maddy Camadine and Halle Feldman combined on a five-inning no-hitter to help Maple Hill coast past Germantown 17-0 in a Patroon Conference match-up. Camadine struck out seven in four innings of work and Feldman tossed one inning, fanning two, to complete the no-no. Faiel Glasheenha­ase went 3-for-3 with three RBIS and three runs scored.

Boys’ tennis: Glens Falls shutout Schuylervi­lle 7-0 in a Foothills match-up. Julien Oswald, Ronan Westfall, Tim Mostiff, John Tallon and Adam Avery provided the singles’ victories while the pairs of Nate Difiore and Colin Woodell along with Kieran Westfall and Brett Chambers had the doubles’ wins for the Black Bears.
