Paul Gia­matti, 49, adds to his long list of nearly 100 TV and movie roles with the sci-fi thriller Mor­gan, in the­aters Sept. 2, in which he plays a psy­chol­o­gist chal­lenged by an ar­ti­fi­cial be­ing. Here are five facts you might not know about the Emmy-win­ning ac­tor.

1. Bart Gia­matti, his fa­ther, was the com­mis­sioner of Ma­jor League Base­ball. 2. His break­through role was in the 1997 Howard Stern biopic Pri­vate Parts. 3. He was the voice of Frank, Tiger Woods’ talk­ing club-head cover, in TV com­mer­cials for Nike Golf. 4. His first and only Os­car nom­i­na­tion to date was for Best Sup­port­ing Ac­tor for 2005’s Cin­derella Man. 5. He played one U.S. pres­i­dent, John Adams, in the HBO minis­eries John Adams, and pro­vided the voice of an­other, Theodore Roo­sevelt, in Ken Burns’ doc­u­men­tary The Roo­sevelts: An In­ti­mate His­tory.
