Is Orlando Bloom trying to put fantasy films behind him?

A: Not at all. For the former Pirates of the Caribbean star, it’s all about the writing. He almost turned down his new thriller, Unlocked, in theaters Sept. 1, in which London is at risk of a biological terrorist attack, because his character originally seemed a bit “flat” on the page. So he asked if he could tweak it a bit. The result: “He starts as this wild-card robber, charming joker and romantic hero who then turns into this duplicitous sociopathp and killer to getg what he wants,” says Bloom, 40.
