The Os­car win­ner for Chicago, 48, stars in Co­caine God­mother: The Griselda Blanco Story. The Life­time TV movie (Jan. 20) is based on the real life of a ruth­less drug lord whose Mi­ami co­caine dis­tri­bu­tion net­work fanned out across the United States.

She was com­pletely un­e­d­u­cated, but she had very good busi­ness skills. What was fas­ci­nat­ing was the power that she had over men, how they feared her and revered her.

I didn’t want to make her like­able or ac­cept­able in any way. But I have to ad­mire her hav­ing power and also abus­ing that power. She made it big in a very dan­ger­ous world.

I re­ally look for­ward to my son's first year in col-lege, and ev­ery day my daugh­ter grows as a good human be­ing and a great cit­i­zen of this planet.

He is my best friend. He loves me, warts and all. Iron­i­cally, we’re born on the same day, Septem­ber 25, 25 years apart. I think there’s some­thing in the plan­e­tary way that we were brought to­gether.
