Lasorda Keynote Speaker at Cofc Annual Meeting
Baseball great Tommy Lasorda, special adviser to the chairman of the L.A. Dodgers and former team manager, will be the keynote speaker at the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting Aug. 7 at Sandia Resort and Casino.
The meeting will also celebrate the Albuquerque Isotopes baseball team. The entire team, along with its mascot, Orbit, will be at the luncheon.
The luncheon celebration will continue with the Isotopes baseball game when the ‘Topes play against the Tucson Padres at 7:05 p.m. The game that night will be in recognition of the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce. Incoming chairman Paul Roth, M.D., will throw the first pitch.
Roth, chancellor of Health Sciences, University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, will share the vision for the chamber’s key focus areas and new programs for the 2012-2013 program year.
“It’s a thrill and an honor to be recognized by the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce,” said Isotopes General Manager John Traub. “We like to think that we embody a lot of the same qualities as the chamber, which is similarly committed to improving our community.
“Now in our 10th season, we’ve been fortunate to have had the support of the chamber since day one and we look forward to our collaborative relationship continuing for many more years to come,” he said.
Chamber President and CEO Terri Cole said the chamber is “excited to celebrate the Isotopes and have a speaker of Tommy Lasorda’s caliber.”
