FOR THE RECORD

An editorial in the Nov. 30 Albuquerque Journal incorrectly reported that Public Regulation Commissioner-elect Karen Montoya opposed the three constitutional amendments on the Nov. 6 ballot to reform the Public Regulation Commission. Voters approved all three.

Montoya opposed Amendment 2, having the Legislature create qualifications for commissioners, as well as Amendment 4, removing the Insurance Division from PRC oversight. She supported Amendment 3, moving corporation chartering to the Secretary of State’s Office.

Several Journal stories, editorials and a graphic have incorrectly reported the total number of men shot at by APD officers since 2010. The correct number is 26. The Journal’s reporting unintentionally omitted a non-fatal shooting by an officer on Aug. 6.

A story in the Nov. 28 edition comparing NMSU faculty salaries with those at peer institutions did not include the average salaries used for the comparison. According to salary information from the Chronicle of Higher Education, full professors at NMSU make an average of $81,500 per year, while those at peer institutions make an average of $103,500. Associate professors at NMSU make an average salary of $67,400 while those at peer institutions are paid an average of $75,700. Assistant professors at NMSU are paid an average salary of $56,300, while those at peer institutions make an average of $67,400 per year.

Using those figures, full professors earn 27 percent more on average at the peer institutions; associate professors are paid 12.3 percent more; and assistant professors are paid 19.7 percent more.
