Services for Slaying Victims
A funeral service for two women slain in Tucumcari last week is scheduled for Tuesday.
The service for Sue Day, 67, and her daughter, Sherry Day Folts, 49, will be held at the Quay County Fair Exhibit Building at 11 a.m. Police say the women were killed by Sue Day’s adopted son, 14-year-old Tony Day.
Day’s first court appearance and arraignment will be on Dec. 28. Prosecutors are pursuing first-degree murder charges against Day. If the judge determines there is probable cause for the charges, prosecutors will be able to seek adult sanctions against Day, said Timothy Rose, 10th Judicial District chief deputy district attorney.
According to an obituary in the Quay County Sun, the family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Sue Day and Sherry Day Folts Benefit at Everyone’s Credit Union in Tucumcari. Donations also can be made in Sue Day’s name and mailed to The Land of Enchantment Foster and Adoptive Parent Association (LOEFAF, Inc.), PO Box 2024, Alamogordo, NM 88310, Attention Kristi Cullers, treasurer.
