Adopt-a-thon, Food Drive for Pets

The Rio Rancho Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, Pet Food Gone Wild and rescue groups are sponsoring a Holiday Pet Food Drive and AdoptA-Thon on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Haynes Park, 2006 Grande Blvd., according to a city news release.

Items being sought for animals include lightly used toys, crates, beds, food and blankets. All proceeds collected will be divided among rescue groups present at the event.

Pet Food Gone Wild, at 2415 Southern Blvd., currently has special pricing on food that can be donated for this cause. The store can be reached at 994-0101.

Also at the event, a special visitor from the North Pole will be inside the adjacent Haynes Community Center and available to take pictures with pets. Refreshmen­ts provided by Hot Stuff Cafe will also be available.

Haynes Park is located across from Intel on N.M. 528/Pat D’Arco Highway.
