Happy homecoming for Trout
Austin Trout holds aloft the WBA Super Welterweight championship belt during a “Welcome Home” event Wednesday night in his hometown of Las Cruces. Trout roughed up Miguel Cotto late to win a 12-round unanimous decision and retain his share of the 154-pound title Saturday night in New York.
Trout is expected to be in Albuquerque on Friday in support of longtime training partner Siju Shabazz, who will make his pro boxing debut on the Holly HolmDiana Prazak card at Route 66 Casino Hotel.
