Water authority worker dies in apparent accident

A 47-year-old station operator for the water authority was found dead by his co-workers Wednesday morning after an “apparent vehicle mishap,” the utility said.

Glenn “Bo” Martin had worked for the authority since 2000.

“This is a very sad day for everyone at the Water Authority, particularly for those who knew and worked with Glenn on a daily basis,” the authority’s executive director, Mark Sanchez, said in a written statement. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this time of terrible loss.”

Bernalillo County sheriff’s deputies and the water authority are investigating.

Martin “died in an apparent vehicle mishap while performing routine maintenance on a wastewater lift station at the southwest corner of Second Street and Osuna,” the utility said in a statement to reporters.

Water authority spokesman David Morris said it’s not clear when Martin died, but his body was found before 8 a.m.
