Real estate broker to run for ABQ council
Eloise Gift, a real-estate broker, announced this week she will challenge incumbent City Councilor Dan Lewis in District 5.
Gift, a Democrat, said her campaign priorities include job creation for West Siders, public safety, police reform and schools.
”A quality education is key to creating jobs and reducing crime in our community,” Gift said in a written statement. “We have waited too long for our economy to get back on track and need a new voice and fresh ideas.”
Gift grew up in Jamaica and lived for 20 years in the Washington, D.C., area. She has a master’s degree from Catholic University in Washington.
District 5 covers the northwest part of Albuquerque.
