Cops: Man broke in to shower, sleep

-

Santa Fe police arrested a 44-year-old man who allegedly broke into a Canyon Road home twice to sleep and use the shower.

Moses Gold is charged with two counts each of burglary, breaking and entering, criminal damage and larceny, according to a Santa Fe police statement.

Gold broke into the home on April 25 and 30, causing about $800 in damages to the home’s windows, according to spokeswoman Celina Westervelt.

She said Gold was driving a rental car, which was parked at the home. Police placed a call to the rental business, which called Gold and informed him his car was about to be towed. Police were waiting when Gold came to get the car.

Gold told police he broke into the home because he needed a shower and a place to sleep. He told them he was “homeless and going through a hard time.” Westervelt said it doesn’t appear as though anything was stolen from the home.

Westervelt said the homeowner and Gold do not know each other.
