Moore’s Rays top Pacheco, Rockies in 10 innings

DENVER — Evan Longoria hit a tiebreakin­g single in the 10th inning and Kelly Johnson later added a two-run homer, helping the Tampa Bay Rays to a 7-4 win over the Colorado Rockies on Friday night.

Moriarty’s Matt Moore lasted five innings and surrendere­d four runs, matching the total he had given up in his last five starts combined. He also allowed a season-high seven hits in the no-decision.

Former La Cueva High School and University of New Mexico standout Jordan Pacheco went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts for Colorado.

GIANTS 2, DODGERS 1: In San Francisco, Buster Posey hit a game-ending home run into the left-field seats leading off the bottom of the ninth, and San Francisco beat Los Angeles.

Clayton Kershaw came off the bereavemen­t list to pitch seven impressive innings for the Dodgers only five days after the death of his father, Christophe­r, and 56 hours following the funeral in Texas. Kershaw allowed one run and three hits, struck out five and walked three in a 104-pitch outing.

MARINERS 4, BLUE JAYS 0: In Toronto, Felix Hernandez pitched eight shutout innings to win his third straight start, and Kyle Seager and Jason Bay homered as Seattle blanked Toronto.

The Blue Jays lost for the seventh time in eight games.

PHILLIES 4, MARLINS 1: In Philadelph­ia, Jonathan Pettibone pitched neatly into the seventh, and Ryan Howard, Chase Utley and Domonic Brown hit solo homers as Philadelph­ia beat Miami.

Pettibone (2-0) allowed one run and five hits in 6⅓ innings in his third start filling in for injured lefty John Lannan.

REDS 6, CUBS 5: In Chicago, Jay Bruce had two RBIs and scored a run, and ShinSoo Choo drove in a run and scored twice as Cincinnati beat Chicago.

The Cubs scored three runs in the ninth against Reds closer Aroldis Chapman before reliever J.J. Hoover came on and struck out Darwin Barney with the bases loaded to pick up his first save.

PIRATES 3, NATIONALS 1: In Pittsburgh, A.J. Burnett allowed one run and struck out nine in seven shutout innings, and call-up Jordy Mercer hit a tie-breaking home run to lead Pittsburgh to a victory over Washington.

Burnett (3-2) gave up five hits and one walk in winning his third straight after going 0-2 in his first three starts.

CARDINALS 6, BREWERS 1: In Milwaukee, Matt Holliday and Carlos Beltran homered and Shelby Miller pitched six strong innings to help St. Louis beat Milwaukee.

Miller (4-2) gave up seven hits and a walk in six innings while striking out five.

TIGERS 4, ASTROS 3: In Houston, Alex Avila hit a tworun home run in the ninth inning, lifting Detroit to a win over Houston.

After Houston closer Jose Veras (0-2) walked Don Kelly to open the inning, Avila hit a 3-1 pitch to deep center field and help the Tigers get their second straight win.

RANGERS 7, RED SOX 0: In Arlington, Texas, Adrian Beltre had a three-run double among his four hits and Derek Holland pitched eight scoreless innings for his fifth consecutiv­e victory over Boston.

Holland (2-2) had a seasonhigh nine strikeouts. The Rangers had a season-high 18 hits.

METS 7, BRAVES 5 (10): In Atlanta, David Wright hit the tying home run in the ninth inning off closer Craig Kimbrel and New York scored twice in the 10th to rally for a victory over Atlanta.

ANGELS 4, ORIOLES 0: In Anaheim, Calif., Jason Vargas pitched a three-hitter for his first victory with his new club, and Mark Trumbo and Mike Trout homered as Los Angeles beat Baltimore.

ATHLETICS 2, YANKEES 0: In New York, A.J. Griffin pitched six-hit ball into the eighth inning and Adam Rosales homered on CC Sabathia’s first pitch, leading Oakland to a victory over New York.

INDIANS 7, TWINS 6 (10): In Cleveland, Drew Stubbs’ RBI double with one out in the 10th inning lifted Cleveland.

PADRES 7, DIAMONDBAC­KS 6: In San Diego, Yonder Alonso hit a go-ahead, tworun homer off Wade Miley in the fifth inning and San Diego held on to beat Arizona.

DODGERS: Los Angeles placed left-hander Ted Lilly on the 15-day disabled list with a strain in his right rib cage.
